You or your spouse must be related to an Australian permanent resident, citizen or eligible NZ citizen, as a parent, brother or sister, niece or nephew, first cousin, grandchild or non-dependent child who lives within a designated area, and is willing to sponsor you and provide financial support.

Your relative must have lived for at least one year and still live in one of the following designated areas:

Queensland: anywhere beween postcodes 4350 - 4499, 4600 - 4899 (This is the entire state, except metropolitan Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast).
Western Australia: anywhere between postcodes 6200 - 6799 (This is the entire state, except metropolitan Perth).
South Australia: any area in South Australia.
Northern Territory: any area in the Northern Territory.
Australian Capital Territory: any part of the Territory.
New South Wales: anywhere between postcodes 2311 - 2312, 2328 - 2333, 2336 - 2490, 2535 - 2551, 2575 - 2739, 2787 - 2898 (anywhere except Sydney, Newcastle and Wollongong).
