If your children living in Australia have become Australian citizens or permanent residents, they may be able to sponsor you for permanent residency in Australia.

Applicants can apply for either a permanent or a temporary Contributory Parent visa, which can converted into the permanent visa at any time during the 2 years.

visa requirements

Applicants for the Contributory Parent visa are required to pay towards their ongoing health costs, which is implemented through a second Visa Application Fee (VAC).

If you wish, you can choose to make the contribution towards your health costs in two instalments. The first instalment (AUD$17,595 per adult) will provide you with a two year temporary visa, and in order for you to become a permanent resident, you must pay the remaining (AUD$11,730 per adult) before the temporary visa expires.

If you choose to pay the entire visa application charge (eg: AU$29,330 per adult) you will be granted a permanent visa.

You must also meet the balance of family test which requires that at least half of your children must be living permanently in Australia, or you must have more children living in Australia as a permanent resident, than in any other single country.
